CareCore National Introduces the Preferred Provider Access System (PPAS)

New PPAS Designation Rewards Clinical Certification Excellence
CareCore National is pleased to announce the Preferred Provider Access System (PPAS). PPAS recognizes and rewards physicians who have demonstrated their proficiency with CareCore National’s Clinical Certification Program. PPAS physicians are not required to submit supporting clinical documentation for online requests that demonstrate medical necessity at the conclusion of an online clinical review.

Eligibility
Board certification in cardiology is required. Selection is based on a demonstrated, high level of proficiency for appropriate utilization of cardiac modalities. Once selected, the successful completion of an attestation form will complete the process. The proficiency is based on a physician’s prior authorization history. Data collection for each cardiac modality will begin on September 1, 2008. Physicians will be eligible for PPAS designation after three months of utilization data has been collected.

To be considered for PPAS designation, you will need to review the online web training module and answer a brief questionnaire regarding the specificity of your practice.
